Abstract

Air ions are very important in our life to all human bodies and growth of plants. In this study we report about the air ions variation at different sites like Coastal area - Kottaipattinam, Urban area - Pudukkottai, Rural area - Anavayal and Hills area- Narthamalai at Pudukkottai District (Geographical latitude 100 23’ N and longitude 780 52’ E), Tamilnadu, India. We have also studied Chennai Marina Beach Coastal area’s air ions concentrations. The measurement of air ions (both Positive and Negative) concentrations are performed using the Air Ions Counter which can work at the temperature range -100C to 500C, at a wind speed of < 15 Km/hr (9mph). The air ions concentrations were measured at different places through daily reading and the monthly average were calculated and tabulated, the line graphs and bar graphs show the daily air ions concentration.
