Abstract
In the present study an investigation has been done for the suitability of Used Transformer Oil (UTO) as an alternate fuel in diesel engine. Initially, UTO for this study was collected from the Karimnagar substation, and the impurities and foreign particles in the oil were removed by settling and filtering. A 20 micron fabric filter was used for filtration. Then the properties of UTO were tested and analyzed with the diesel oil. Then the UTO was mixed with the diesel oil in different ratios ranging from UTO 10% to UTO 60%. After the completion of blending process, samples are tested for its performance by using diesel engine setup and compared the same with the diesel oil. Finally, emission characteristics have been studied for the UTO.
